We'll be donating one FDA-approved surgical mask to Direct Relief, a nonprofit organization working to provide relief to those on the frontlines of combating coronavirus, for every non-medical fabric mask purchased.
For the most immediate impact, we are making an upfront donation of 10,000 surgical masks in order to cover the first 10,000 fabric masks sold on TeePublic. As part of its coronavirus response efforts, Direct Relief is "coordinating with public health authorities, nonprofit organizations and businesses in the U.S. and globally to provide personal protective equipment and essential medical items to health workers responding to coronavirus (COVID-19)."
We're very proud to partner with Direct Relief to help in any way we can, and you can read more about their relief initiatives here: https://www.directrelief.org/emergency/coronavirus-outbreak/.
As of August 1st, 2020, we are proud to have donated 190,000 masks through the partnership with Direct Relief. Direct Relief has been able to donate these medical-grade surgical masks to 92 healthcare facilities across 27 US states. In November 2020, an additional 150,000 masks were sent down to Nicaragua and Honduras as part of an emergency aid shipment following Hurricane Eta.
The masks will be used to help protect both rescuers and rescued from Covid risks amidst the rescue and shelter efforts. They're doing all they can to prevent a spike in cases following the massive displacement of communities and disruption of essential supply lines.
To date, the masks we've donated have gone to 130 different medical centers in 33 different states, along with the Dominican Republic, Nicaragua, and Honduras.
